Round Rock Bond Election – Please Vote

A message from the City of Round Rock Parks & Rec Department:
The City of Round Rock is holding elections on November 5, 2013. Citizens will be asked to vote on 4 propositions on this year’s ballot. Approving these propositions will help strengthen Round Rock by bolstering the vitality of our parks and trails system, providing our firefighters and police officer the tools needed to keep us safe,  and improving our library facilities.

*** Note that Proposition 2 offers substantial enhancements to the soccer fields in Round Rock. About $3M will be spent on upgrading the current OSP fields. Another $12M will build another 12 multipurpose fields at OSP.

***Your VOTE counts. It will take about 2024 votes to pass the bond issue. Please encourage your family and friends to vote. Early voting is until Monday, Nov 4. Election day voting is Tuesday, Nov 5. Voting locations are at the end of this letter.  Additional information on the bond vote is attached.
 
Early Voting is from October 21st – November 4th
You can vote at any polling place during Early Voting.  Early Voting polling locations are:
·      Baca Senior Center  303 W. Bagdad St., Round Rock
·      Brushy Creek Community Center  16318 Great Oaks Dr., Round Rock
·      JB and Hallie Jester Annex  1801 E. Old Settlers Blvd., Round Rock
·      Round Rock Randalls  2051 Gattis School Rd., Round Rock

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. Polls will be open from 7:00am to 7:00pm

RRWSL Games Rained Out, 10/27/13

The fields are much too muddy to play today.  So, we are rained out…yet again this season!

1st Annual Blue Suede Cleats 3v3 Tourney – Sat, Nov 16th

Saturday November 16, 2013

1pm – ‘til Elvis leaves the building!

Sponsored by The SoccerPlex at Cedar Park, this will be the most fun 3v3 tournament of the year! This is in loving memory of our dear friend and soccer buddy, Mary Feagin-Phillips who last her battle to cancer this year. All proceeds will go to the education fund for Mary’s children. Mary was a permanent fixture in our soccer community; she coached, played on several teams and recruited new players whenever possible. Mary was also a HUGE Elvis fan! We’ll be piping in his tunes and we’re asking you to give your team an Elvis-themed name! So get your registration in soon – the best names will go fast.

  • Cost is $25 per player and teams are limited to 5 players
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top teams in each division. Grab your blue suede cleats and join us!
  • This is going to be a family event, with fun games (YES a ref pinata!), baked goods, blue hawaiian and the bar will be serving ice cold beer and wine.

  • Women’s Over 30 Rec: Amazing Graces
  • Women’s Over 18 Open: Don’t Be Cruel
  • Men’s Over 18 Open: Hound Dogs
  • Co-ed Over 18 Open: All Shook-Up

All teams are guaranteed 3 games. The spirit of this tournament is to have fun! The macho rule will be strictly enforced and teams will be matched up based on skill level. Some games may be self-reffed.

Schedule updates, daylight savings time ends soon

The rained out games (Oct 13) have been rescheduled for November 17.  November 17 games are pushed back to November 24.

Please note that Daylight Saving Time ends November 3.   All games in November have been shifted 15 minutes earlier so we would not need to shorten the game duration.

The schedule on the website has been updated with the new adjustment for daylight savings time.

If you see any problems, please feel free to contact your division commissioner and/or Kyle.

We have evaluated the fields at OSP and determined that they are playable, so we will NOT be canceling any games today.

Please be advised that parking may be an issue due to the car show taking place in Old Settlers Park this weekend and arrive early to allow ample time to find parking and walking to the fields.

Sunday, Sept 29 – traffic into Old Settlers

Please allow extra time arriving to the RRWSL fields this Sunday.  There is a car show in Old Settlers Park this weekend (near the Lakeside Pavilion) and higher than usual traffic is expected.  Please keep this in mind when planning travel times to your game so we do not experience delays in our schedule!
